Course Description:
This introductory level continuing education course contains a range of topics pertaining to personal automotive mobility solutions. It will assist the allied health care practitioner in understanding and advocating for individuals seeking automotive vehicle modification solutions, while also teaching practitioners about the unique process involved in evaluating, selecting and purchasing appropriate automotive options.

School is back in session and students can experience increased stressors related to school. In this workshop, learn about tools and apps that can help your child decrease school days stressors and distractions. This workshop will cover apps and tools appropriate for elementary to high school aged students.
Smart devices are only as smart as the strategies and schedules being used. The schedule planning process, executive function skills, strategies and smart device features can all work together synergistically to develop skill proficiency and support neurodiverse learners in managing their schedule and tasks. Learn about a framework for the schedule management process including saving information, creating a plan, remembering, and doing the plan. Strategies to support executive function skills utilized in the schedule management process will be addressed for skills such as planning, memory, time management, task initiation, sustained effort, and attention/focus. Tips and tricks for using smart devices will be presented as they apply within the framework. Smart devices include mobile phones, tablets, smart speakers and displays, smartwatches, and mobile apps.
APTAT Assistive Technology Training Series
Training Duration: 1 hour
This session will serve as an overview of accessibility considerations as it relates to Information and Communication Technology and will encompass procedures, laws, best practices, and resources related to accessibility.
Objective:
1. Participants will be able to identify types of ICT and will learn of concerns and solutions as it relates to accessibility.
2. Participants will receive and review resources for 508 standards and WCAG 2.0 standards of universal accessibility.
3. Participants will gain an understanding of laws governing accessibility and ICT access.
4. Participants will view the process of remediation and best practices for conforming to accessibility standards.

This session is designed with specific JAN examples that will prompt thinking and help generate attendee questions.
Learn how AVAIL by CentralReach is helping to empower individuals with disabilities by providing a comprehensive prompting and modeling tool that can be used to promote skill building and independence at home, school, or work. Through an online management system support staff can build modules with text, audio, pictures, or video to assist the user through tasks. The user can access the modules through a simple interface on their own device at their own pace. Just step back and watch their confidence grow!

Join Rachel Reeves, Marisa Church, and Zhi Huang from Access Ingenuity to explore VoiceOver keyboard basics to increase your efficiency while using VoiceOver with your iPhone and iPad.

These skills fall in a category called executive function and lay the foundation for being a reliable and productive employee. In this workshop for youth and adults we will explore technology to support executive function at work. Topics will include managing time, staying organized, completing tasks, and maintaining focus. Information presented will be helpful for those new to the workplace, individuals with ADHD (Attention-Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder) or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), as well as those with other executive function challenges. Join us for demonstrations of devices and mobile apps to include timers, task managers, wearables, and other tools that support productivity at work.

Join JAN’s Motor Team consultants Matthew McCord and Julie Davis in exploring workplace accommodations to assist your employees with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. We will explore accommodations that are commonly beneficial for individuals with a variety of limitations that can arise from GI disorders. From ways to increasing access to a restroom, strategies for managing workplace stress, considerations for ensuring supervisors treat these needs with dignity, and more.

Anxiety can affect a student’s ability to focus and participate in the classroom. This session will showcase assistive technology tools and resources that can help students manage anxiety, reduce stress and improve focus.
Part two of this three-part series on executive functions for schedules will provide strategies and tools for remembering a schedule, calendar, task list, and managing time. Tools presented will range in compatibility with platforms such as iPad, Android, Chrome and web-based. Tools and strategies will be appropriate for middle school age through adult, users who are able to understand and use written language and use tools with moderate to advanced complexity.
